In period August, 21st- September, 4th NDP NATO SPS MYR project G4687 “ New phytotechnology for cleaning the military contaminated sites” prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk visited partner country Ukraine, specifically, Kyiv and Lviv regions where two partnering institutions located: National University of Life and the Environmental Sciences (NULES) and National University “ Lvivska Polytechnika”(NULP).
During the visit prof. Pidlisnyuk had a number of meeting in Kyiv with members of the Ukrainian team: Tetyana Stefanovska, Ludmila Kava, Artem Nedkov, PhD student and overviewed on–going experiment on (1) biomass production and (2)phytoremediation with soils taken from Kamenetz-Podislky, Western Ukraine and Kypakhovo, Eastern Ukraine at NULES. That research is planned within the project G4687 for 2016 year.
While at Kyiv prof. Pidlisnyuk had a meeting with the Deputy head of All-Ukrainian NGO “Mayors Club” Oleksandr Mazurchak and end-user from Kamenetz-Podilsky Valery Klimenko and informed about the training for end-users is planned in Lviv, Ukraine for October,6-7. All-Ukrainian NGO “Mayors Club” proposed to do a promotion of the event and some logistic cost-sharing along with Association of Energy auditors in Ukraine.
Valentina Pidlisnyuk had a meeting with Yakiv S.Rubarkh, Chairman of the Board, First Dnipro Investment Company Ltd, who expressed a desire to cooperate and to support a future project of using miscanthus for restoration of the soil at Chernobyl Zone. She had a meeting with the Dean of Geography department at Taras Shenchenko National University in Kyiv prof. Yaroslav Oliynik and members of the faculty: Olena Denysenko, Melnichuk Anatoliy and Oleksandr Obodovskyi. The questions regarding cooperative research on soil &water resources proper management were discussed.
Together with PPD Assoc. prof. Tetyana Stefanovska prof. Pidlisnyuk did a trip to Lviv region in order to make a necessity arrangement for the training planned for end-users within project plan for 2016 year. The centre “ Bykhta Vikingiv” was selected as a place for the training and necessary arrangement and reservation was done.
Together with PPD Assoc. prof. Tetyana Stefanovska prof. Pidlisnyuk visited Lviv Ivan Franko National University, Biological faculty, Department of Physiology and Plant ecology. They had a productive discussion with prof. Olga Terek, head of the department. As a result prof. Terek and faculty members from the department will do an input to the training and to disseminate results of the G4687 project among stakeholders in Lviv region. Ways for future joint research at military site located in Lviv region- Yavorivskyi polygon were overviewed.
While in Lviv Prof. Pidlisnyuk met with Co-Director assoc.professor Shapoval, NULP and members of the team: PhD students Martin Sozanskyi and Vitalyi Stadnik. Planned research was discussed and question regarding purchasing a necessary equipment to be bought within the G4687 project.
While at the site visit in Ukraine the negotiation regarding involvement of end-users from farmers were done and 4 participants of the training were selected from Lviv and Ternopil regions. Similar negotiation was done with potential end-users from the Eastern Ukraine – Donetsk region and 8 participants of the training were selected.
