New equipment at NULP, Ukraine

New model of XRF Analyzer “ElvaX Light SDD Spectrometer” was purchased within G4687 project for NATO team works at NULP (Co-Director Dr.Pavlo Shapoval). The equipment is a new model of desktop energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) analyzer with extended element range from Na (Z=11) to U (Z=92). The Helium purge system and the automatic primary filter changer combined with the large area SDD detector are used to allow effective registration of the light elements spectra. ElvaX Light SDD Spectrometer is used for quantitative and qualitative analysis of the elemental composition of metal alloys, liquids, food and biological samples, powder assays, as well as samples deposited on surfaces or filters, in a wide range of element concentrations. The accuracy of determining concentrations is better than 0.3% for metal alloys. Analyzer’s detecting limit is better than 1 ppm for most elements in light matrix.

Analyzer “ElvaX Light SSD” is registered in the Ukrainian State Register of measuring devices at number U1411-09. The analyzer is equipped with a special calibration program for environmental monitoring of soil, water and burnt ash plant material. In addition, the device provided full guarantee period of 18 months from the date of purchase. XRF Analyzer “ElvaX Light SSD” and its accessories were bought without paying value added tax.

The purchasing of that Analyser will permit to enhance quality and to speed the process of laboratory analysis of the military soil samples and miscanthus parts which NULP team provides for NULES and UJEP concerning field plots located at Dolyna and Kurakhove (Ukraine), Mimon (Czech Republic) and Bakar ( Croatia). NPD prof. Pidlisnyuk and PPD Dr,Tatyana Stefanovska visited NULP and participated in the official ceremony of equipment installation at the Department of Analytical Chemistry. Vice-Rector prof. Oleg Matvijiv, Head of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology prof. Volodymyr Skorokhoda, Head of the Department of Analytical Chemistry prof. Josyp Yatchishin along with Co-Director Dr.Pavlo Shapoval and members of his team Martin Sozanskyi and Vitalii Stadnik participated in the ceremony.
