The long-term research on growing of M.xgiganteus in the modelling metals contaminated soils and real military soils contaminated by metal(loid)s and pesticides residues collected in Mairi is going on in IPBB, Kazakhstan. The Kazakh team is involved in studying of the interconnection between properties of the contaminated soils, content of contaminants, Mxgiganteus biological parameters, physiological characteristics and harvest yield.
In 2019 the new experiment was established on testing the potential of another plants: Miscanthus sinensis, Paulownia tomentosa, Salix alba (in vitro) to be used in the developing phytotechnology.
